HMS Server User Manual


1. Installation

1.1 Product Features

The HMS Server software offers the following features:

  • Can be installed on SES, SES One, or SVR workstations and computers, or independently on another Windows 10 / 11 computer.
  • Configure network connections and add student accounts, allowing students to take makeup classes from home using a Windows computer.
  • Students need to install the free HMS student client software, enter the tutoring center's computer IP address and their account password to connect and attend classes.

1.2 Installation Environment

  • Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 / 11 64-bit
  • .NET Framework 4 or higher
  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 (32/64-bit)

1.3 Bandwidth Requirements

  • Each client requires bandwidth approximately 1.5 times the video encoding bitrate.
  • Two-times speed playback requires about 3 times the bandwidth.

1.4 Installation Steps

  1. Download and Extract: Download the HMS Server software, extract the HMS.zip file, enter the folder, and execute the Setup(.exe) file.
  2. Setup Wizard: Launch the HMS Server installation wizard and click "Next".
  3. Read License Agreement: Read the license agreement, accept the terms, and click "I Agree" to proceed with the installation.
  4. Choose Installation Location: Select the installation folder, confirm, and click "Next".
  5. Confirm Installation: Review the installation settings and click "Next" to start the installation.
  6. Complete Installation: After installation is complete, click "Close".

1.5 Setting Administrator Privileges

  1. Locate File: Open the HMS Server installation directory (default path is C:\Program Files (x86)\BlueEyes Technology\HMS Server).
  2. Set Administrator Privileges: Right-click the HMS Server.exe file, select "Properties".
  3. Compatibility Settings: In the "Compatibility" tab, check "Run this program as an administrator" and click "OK".

1.6 License Activation

  1. Start Program: On first launch of HMS Server, go to the "About" page, select "Online Activation", and enter the license key.
  2. Enter License Key: Enter the correct license key and click "Online Activation" to complete the activation process.
  3. Service Startup: After activation, the program will automatically start the service. If a Windows security warning appears, click "Allow access".

2. User Interface

2.1 Service Status

  • Stopped: A padlock icon indicates that the HMS service is stopped.
  • Running: A green checkmark icon indicates that the HMS service is running normally.

2.2 Configuration Features

  • Video Folder Path: Set the path for the video folder.
  • Tutoring Center Name and Logo: Enter the tutoring center's name and upload a 300x100 pixel logo image (supporting jpg/bmp/png formats).
  • System Protection Password: Enable the system protection password feature, requiring a password to access the configuration page.
  • Scheduled Restart: Enable the scheduled restart feature to set a schedule for regularly restarting HMS Server.

2.3 Maintenance Features

  • Backup and Restore: Backup or restore system settings (system settings only, not including account settings).

2.4 Service Features

  • Network Address and Ports: Display the current external network address and the status of ports 9000 and 9001.

2.5 Account Management

  • Account Management: Add, delete, modify, export, and import accounts.
  • Add Account: Enter account, password, and student name (password is case-sensitive).

2.6 Student Client Software

  • Download Link: Click on "Student Client Software" to display the download link, which can be copied to notify students to download.

2.7 Logs

  • Operation Records: Display records of the program’s operations.

3. Network Configuration

3.1 Windows Firewall Configuration

  1. Open Firewall Settings: Press Win+I to open system settings, then click on "Network & Internet".
  2. Access Firewall: In the "Network Status" page, click on "Windows Firewall".
  3. Create Rules: Click on "Advanced Settings", select "Outbound Rules", then click "New Rule".
  4. Set Rule: Choose "Port", click "Next", set port range to 9000-9001, and click "Next".
  5. Allow Connection: Select "Allow the connection", then click "Next".
  6. Set Network Types: Choose "Private" and "Public", click "Next".
  7. Name Rule: Enter the rule name "HMS Server", then click "Finish".

3.2 Firewall Virtual Server Configuration

  1. Login to Router: Log in to the router configuration page (using ASUS RT-AC86U as an example), go to "WAN" and select "Virtual Server".
  2. Add Configuration: Enable the virtual server, click "Add Profile".
  3. Set Service: Set the service name to "HMS", protocol to "TCP", external port range to 9000:9001, and internal IP address to the IP address of the HMS Server host.
  4. Confirm Settings: Verify port range rules and complete the configuration as per the manual or page instructions.

4. Frequently Asked Questions

4.1 Student Client Cannot Connect

Answer: If the student client cannot connect, it may be due to a change in the server IP address or an issue with the account status.

  1. Check IP Address: Verify if the server's external IP address has changed by checking the current external network address in the service interface.
  2. Verify Account Status: Ensure the student account is correctly activated and the password is correct by checking the account settings.

4.2 Transferring License Key to Another Computer

Answer: Each license key is limited to activation on one computer. To transfer the license key to another computer, first perform a deactivation on the current computer.

  1. Perform Deactivation: In the program’s top menu, click "About", then select "Deactivation".
  2. Reactivate: After deactivation, enter the license key on the new computer to activate it.
